The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) - the organizer of the annual Oscars, has just announced the official figures of films eligible for the Best Picture award at the 96th season. Accordingly, there are 265 feature films eligible for the award, selected from a total of 321 films submitted for the award by countries and territories.

The war-monster film Godzilla Minus One (director: Yamazaki Takashi) is one of the Asian films competing in this category. This is one of the non-English-language films of the season, and has an impressive record in the North American market with a revenue of 49.1 million USD (according to Box Office Mojo).

This year, the organizing committee will select 10 official nominees in the Best Film category.
The nomination round will take place over five days, from January 11 to January 16, 2024, and the official nominations will be announced on January 23. The 96th Academy Awards will be held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, USA as usual; ABC will broadcast the program live.
