Hanoi: 8,800 volunteers ready for National Day

Volunteers from 43 universities, colleges and communes and wards in the capital are ready and proud to be assigned by the City to serve on the occasion of National Day September 2 and the series of activities celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution.

On the evening of August 16, in Hanoi , the Hanoi Youth Union organized the program "Meeting volunteers serving in the series of activities celebrating the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025)".

Attending the ceremony were Secretary of the Central Youth Union, President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union Nguyen Tuong Lam; representatives of leaders of the city's departments, branches and sectors, and the presence of 8,800 volunteers - outstanding faces representing nearly 3 million young people and more than 600,000 union members in the capital.

According to the Organizing Committee, 8,800 members and young people are honored to represent nearly 3 million young people, and more than 600,000 members in the capital Hanoi. This year's volunteer team was carefully selected for political qualities, ethics, health and academic results.

Many groups also have good foreign language skills, meeting the requirements of supporting international delegations. This force will undertake many important tasks, from logistics, guiding delegates, supporting security and order, ensuring environmental sanitation to welcoming people from provinces, cities and international friends to attend the Great Ceremony.

The scope of work stretches from the grandstand of Ba Dinh Square to more than 10km of parade routes. The workload is large, requiring a sense of responsibility, scientific working methods, good health and above all, the pioneering spirit and the desire to contribute of youth.

Specific tasks assigned to volunteers include: guiding delegates, distributing necessities at the Ba Dinh Square grandstand area; distributing drinking water and items to serve people on the streets; managing warehouses, transporting supplies; coordinating to ensure security, order, and environmental sanitation; supporting the reception of people's and international delegations.

Speaking at the program, Secretary of the City Youth Union, Chairman of the Vietnam Student Association of Hanoi Nguyen Tien Hung emphasized: “80 years ago, union members and young people were the vanguard force standing up with the entire people to fight for national independence and freedom. Today, in a sacred and proud atmosphere, the youth of the capital are honored to be assigned by the City to carry out important tasks in organizing the Great Ceremony.”

He also affirmed that this is not only an honor but also an opportunity for each young person to show their patriotism and dedication. “With the spirit of ‘Where there is a need, there is youth, where there is difficulty, there is youth’, you will excellently complete the assigned tasks, contributing to spreading national pride, creating a beautiful image of the capital Hanoi and the young generation of Vietnam to the people of the whole country as well as international friends” - Secretary of the City Youth Union Nguyen Tien Hung said.

To prepare for the volunteer force, the Hanoi Youth Union organized the distribution of uniforms, hats, cards and conducted training. The training content focused on skills to support security and order, maintain environmental hygiene, guide evacuation, first aid and how to move and support people in trouble. In addition, volunteers were also reminded about manners, collective discipline and special notes when performing tasks.

With careful preparation, high sense of responsibility and enthusiasm, 8,800 volunteers from the Capital are expected to make an important contribution to the overall success of the Festival, leaving a beautiful impression in the hearts of the people of the whole country and international friends, in line with the spirit of the National Festival.
