On May 26, the Traffic Police Department ( Hanoi City Police) began deploying more than 20 mobile camera locations to detect traffic violations. The time and location of the cameras will change so that violators cannot "avoid the checkpoints". When detecting a vehicle violating the rules, the cameraman will notify the task force to stop the vehicle for handling.
Traffic police officers use cameras to record violators
In case the violation cannot be handled immediately, the image recording will be handed over to the processing team to check on the data system and then send a notice of fine to the vehicle owner's address.
According to the authorities, the above plan will be implemented from now until October 14, 2025. Hanoi traffic police will focus on handling behaviors that are the direct causes of traffic jams and accidents such as: running red lights; driving in the wrong lane or road section; entering prohibited roads or going the wrong way; driving on sidewalks; not wearing helmets; carrying too many people; using phones while driving; and violations related to license plates.
According to the Traffic Police Department of Hanoi City Police, from April 15 to now, the forces have handled more than 21,000 violations, temporarily detained about 5,000 vehicles and revoked over 900 driving licenses of all kinds. Of these, the number of drivers who violated the law detected through the surveillance camera system and had records made was 200 cases, and notifications were sent to 500 related vehicle owners.
