Hanoi: Police guide many people to escape the fire in a mini apartment building

In the early morning of October 4, the Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Police Department (Hanoi City Police) coordinated with the forces, authorities and ward police to guide many people to escape from the fire at an 8-storey mini apartment building in lane 39 Yen Xa (Thanh Liet ward).

According to initial information, at nearly 24:00 on October 3, residents discovered a burning smell and smoke spreading in the above mentioned mini apartment building.

After that, many people shouted and ran to the top floor of the mini apartment building. Many people waved for help from the top floor, some others risked their lives to climb the fire escape ladder in the thick black smoke that covered the stairs.

Immediately after receiving the information, the Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Police Department ( Hanoi City Police) mobilized 4 fire trucks and 20 soldiers to the scene to carry out fire fighting and rescue.

The authorities approached the smoke on the first floor of the house, quickly handled the fire to prevent it from spreading and control it; at the same time, other working groups approached to search and rescue, and guide escape.

During the search, the task force guided and rescued about 20 people to safety.

The area of ​​the mini apartment is about ^150m2 , the area of ​​the fire is nearly ^1m2 . Initial assessment, it may be due to an electrical short circuit in the electrical cabinet on the first floor, causing a lot of smoke.

The fire caused no human casualties, property damage is being counted by authorities.
