Hanoi prepares to launch railway tour to visit inner city and surrounding areas

Hanoi Department of Tourism has just coordinated with Vietnam Railway Corporation to organize a survey program to develop railway tourism products running in the inner city and surrounding areas.

Also participating in the survey program were representatives of management agencies, travel businesses and experts.

The survey team visited locations such as Hanoi Railway Station, Long Bien Railway Station, Gia Lam Railway Station, Gia Lam Railway Factory and Co Loa Railway Station to research, learn and move towards building a train tour running in the inner city and surrounding areas.

The surveyed locations are all located in areas connecting the cultural, historical and creative industrial spaces of the Capital, expected to become the core of new railway tourism products.

From the foundation of the railway line, the cultural spaces in the stop areas, the units will research and design them into storytelling, performance, and exhibition spaces... so that each train is not just a means of transport, but becomes a typical tourism product of Hanoi .

The urban railway tourist route and neighboring connections are a journey to explore Hanoi in a completely new way, with 10 double-decker trains appearing for the first time in Hanoi. It is expected that on August 19, 7 double-decker trains will be launched and serve tourists.

According to the proposal of some travel agencies, some types of services exploiting Hanoi culture such as: Folk art (xam, ca tru), cuisine (pho cuon, banh com, lotus tea) and handicraft stalls (Van Phuc silk, folk paintings) ... will be brought on the train, ... From there, the train car will be turned into a mobile cultural space.

In addition, the railway industry should support the integration of selling tour-train ticket-accommodation-sightseeing combos right on the train; at the same time, adjust train schedules and open relics to suit passenger schedules.

On the side of the Department of Tourism, according to Deputy Director Tran Trung Hieu, the railway line around Hanoi is a special resource, not only serving transportation, this line can become a cultural experience journey, where visitors explore the capital through each train station, each historical story and the tourism industry will closely coordinate with units to deploy this tour.

The railway industry also committed to closely coordinating with all parties to build a unique train with its own cultural identity and high cultural recognition, contributing to renewing the image of the railway industry.

Currently, the railway industry is also researching to renovate stations such as Long Bien, Gia Lam, Co Loa into cultural, exhibition and event spaces, and at the same time build a railway museum at Gia Lam Railway Factory. This is also a favorable condition to attract tourists to railway tours.
