On September 2, the Hanoi Department of Tourism said that during the 4-day National Day holiday (from August 30 to September 2, 2025), the capital city of Hanoi welcomed about 2.08 million visitors, 3 times higher than the same period last year, of which international visitors are estimated to welcome over 80,000, an increase of 35% over the same period in 2024.
Total revenue from tourism will reach about VND 4,500 billion, an increase of 80% compared to 2024.
The high demand for rest and sightseeing has led to high occupancy rates in 3-5 star hotels, with many hotels being 100% full on September 1. Accommodation and tourism service establishments strictly follow regulations on safety, fire prevention and fighting, environmental sanitation and food safety.
It is estimated that during the September 2 holiday in 2025, the average room occupancy rate of hotels and tourist apartments will reach about 83%, an increase of 22.6 percentage points over the same period in 2024.
During this year’s holiday, Hanoi organized many large-scale cultural and artistic events and tourism promotion activities. Highlights include a series of programs celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2, the “Red Color of Ba Dinh” program, a survey of the double-decker train “The Hanoi Train” and experiential activities in Bat Trang, Duong Lam, and a double-decker bus city tour.
Also on this occasion, the National Achievements Exhibition with the theme "80 years of Independence-Freedom-Happiness journey" took place at the National Exhibition Center, attracting about 1.2 million visitors in just 3 days (from August 28 to August 31, 2025).
At key tourist destinations, the number of visitors increased dramatically: Thang Long Imperial Citadel and Hanoi Zoo welcomed about 33,000 visitors; Hoa Lo Prison relic site nearly 26,500 visitors; Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam 18,000 visitors; Ba Vi National Park more than 3,100 visitors. Central museums open free of charge from September 1-3 also attract a large number of domestic and foreign visitors.
In particular, the fireworks display at 5 locations (Hoan Kiem Lake, Lac Long Quan Flower Garden, Van Quan Lake, Thong Nhat Park, My Dinh National Stadium) along with cultural and artistic activities throughout the city on the evening of September 2nd contributed to promoting the image of Hanoi - a safe, friendly and attractive destination.
Hanoi Department of Tourism affirmed that basically, tourist destinations have strengthened the organization of welcoming guests, ensuring security and order, traffic safety, food safety and hygiene, environmental sanitation, promptly meeting the conditions for serving tourists, and preventing negative and unusual situations from occurring at the destinations./.
