
Quynh Son community tourism village, Bac Son commune, Lang Son province, has just been honored by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism) as "Best Tourist Village of 2025". This is not only the pride of Lang Son people but also an important milestone in the journey of sustainable tourism development in Vietnam, contributing to enhancing the country's position on the world tourism map.

From peaceful village to international title
The "Best Tourism Villages" award, initiated by UN Tourism, is a global initiative to honor excellence in cultural preservation, environmental protection and sustainable livelihood development for communities. Selected villages must pass strict criteria on governance, innovation, environment, community development and contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Among hundreds of applications from around the world, Quynh Son stood out thanks to its community-based tourism model that focuses on people, culture and nature, where visitors not only relax, but also experience, learn and immerse themselves in local life.
Tourism development associated with conservation and environment
Over the years, Lang Son provincial government has persistently pursued the direction of green tourism and community tourism. Quynh Son has become a bright spot in attracting tourists while preserving the unique Tay cultural identity and clean ecological environment.
Tourism infrastructure has been invested synchronously: village roads, toilets, clean water systems, waste treatment areas, and the restriction of single-use plastics has contributed to preserving the original beauty of Bac Son village. Green spaces have been expanded, houses and homestays all use environmentally friendly materials, ensuring harmony between tradition and modernity.
Along with that, local authorities also control the number of tourists, avoiding overload, to protect ecological balance and ensure quality experiences for visitors.
Community is the heart of Quynh Son tourism
The success of Quynh Son comes from the people themselves, the real subjects of the community tourism model. Households participate in training courses on reception skills, service management, food safety, fire prevention and civilized tourist behavior.
Homestay models, local cuisine, traditional crafts and agricultural experiences are encouraged to develop. In particular, women and young people have the opportunity to actively participate in tourism activities from working as tour guides, chefs, craftsmen to homestay managers, contributing to promoting gender equality and inclusive development.
Media campaign to bring Quynh Son to the world

In 2023, the Lang Son Provincial Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Center launched a large-scale digital media campaign to promote the image of Quynh Son. High-quality videos with the participation of famous KOLs and KOCs attracted millions of views on social media platforms, turning Quynh Son into one of the "hottest" destinations in the Northern region.
In early 2025, the Center continued to complete the nomination documents in English, including images, videos, data and specific evidence according to UN Tourism's criteria. Thanks to careful preparation and professional approach, Quynh Son surpassed many international competitors to win the prestigious title "World's Best Tourist Village 2025".
Reaching international level to spread Vietnamese values
After being recognized, Bac Son commune authorities and Lang Son Provincial Promotion Center quickly implemented an international communication plan, focusing on introducing Quynh Son's culture, cuisine, people and sustainable development philosophy. The goal is not only to promote Lang Son tourism, but also to bring the image of a friendly, responsible and creative Vietnam closer to global tourists.

The title of "World's Best Tourist Village" is not only a worthy reward for the efforts of Quynh Son people, but also a testament to Vietnam's correct strategy of developing community tourism based on identity values, sustainability and hospitality.
The success of Quynh Son shows that Vietnamese tourism is transforming strongly, from small-scale models to a sustainable tourism ecosystem, focusing on people. This event also opens up opportunities for international cooperation, attracting investment, and affirming that Vietnam is an attractive, safe and environmentally responsible destination.

From a small village in Bac Son valley, Quynh Son has now become a symbol of Vietnamese community tourism where every roof, street and smile tells a story about the pride, preservation and aspirations of the Vietnamese people.
