The Hanoi People's Committee requested the Hanoi Department of Health to closely monitor and supervise the situation of infectious diseases, regularly analyze and assess risks to propose and implement appropriate, timely and effective prevention and control measures.

The Hanoi People's Committee requested to step up prevention and control of dengue fever, hand, foot and mouth disease, COVID-19 and epidemics during the rainy season. Relevant units continue to proactively implement measures and actively coordinate with the health sector to implement disease prevention and control measures.

The Hanoi Department of Health is ready and proactive in implementing disease prevention and control plans when situations arise, consolidating and maintaining mobile anti-epidemic teams to support lower levels in monitoring and handling epidemics and infectious diseases circulating in rainy and flood conditions.

The Department has stepped up communication activities to prevent and control the epidemic, conducted gene sequencing of a number of patients with clinical diagnosis of COVID-19 to detect circulating variants in order to develop strategies and plans to effectively prevent and control the spread of the virus.

The preventive and treatment health system strengthens coordination in updating infectious disease surveillance data, severe viral pneumonia (SVP), event-based surveillance to provide timely information on infectious disease cases, unusual signs of epidemics, early detection of the increase of infectious diseases, especially dengue fever, hand, foot and mouth disease, COVID-19 and diseases transmitted through the digestive tract, pink eye after storms and floods.

The Department guides and directs medical facilities to coordinate with relevant units to organize a peak campaign in June-July 2025 to prevent and control dengue fever, hand, foot and mouth disease, COVID-19 and other diseases that may occur in rainy and flood conditions (red eye, diarrhea, cholera, dysentery, typhoid).

The Department directs medical examination and treatment facilities to ensure good patient admission and treatment, minimize deaths, and avoid situations where patients do not receive timely consultation, emergency care, treatment, and referral.

The unit has a plan to allocate treatment routes, support lower levels, avoid hospital overload; direct local medical units to ensure human resources, drugs, chemicals, medical equipment and facilities to serve the work of preventing and fighting infectious diseases.

From the beginning of 2025 to May 23, Hanoi recorded 192 cases of COVID-19, no deaths, the number of cases decreased compared to the same period in 2024.

It is forecasted that in the coming time, the number of COVID-19 cases may continue to increase slightly and appear sporadically due to many crowded events and festivals and increased interaction and travel during the summer.

Other diseases such as dengue fever, measles, hand, foot and mouth disease, streptococcus suis, and tetanus continue to record new cases, appearing sporadically in districts across the city, with no deaths.

Currently, district, town and city health centers are continuing to implement dengue fever prevention and control activities, organizing mosquito larvae eradication campaigns, and actively spraying chemicals to prevent dengue fever in key communes and wards, with many patients every year.

At the same time, units continue to review and organize measles vaccination for children. Centers increase information and propaganda about the epidemic situation and measures to prevent and control measles, hand, foot and mouth disease, dengue fever, COVID-19 and other summer diseases./.
