On September 20, 223 excellent candidates and 8 outstanding groups were honored at the Hanoi City International Young Informatics Talent Competition, school year 2024-2025.
At the conference, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training awarded 9 first prizes, 33 second prizes, 67 third prizes and 114 consolation prizes to primary, secondary and high school students in the capital. All the prizes of the competition were sponsored by the IIG Vietnam Education Organization.
The 2024-2025 school year marks the second season of the competition with outstanding scale and quality. The preliminary round attracted nearly 50,000 contestants from nearly 1,000 schools, an increase of nearly 60% compared to the previous season.
In particular, this year the contest recorded the participation of visually impaired students.

As a result, the preliminary round had more than 80% of primary school candidates and nearly 80% of secondary school candidates meeting international standards. The final round recorded a very high rate of students achieving 700 points or more: nearly 100% in primary school, 77% in secondary school and 82% in high school.
Mr. Tran The Cuong - Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training - affirmed that the above figures are proof that Hanoi students are approaching international standards, and at the same time affirming that teaching and learning information technology according to international standards has initially achieved clear results.
According to Mr. Tran The Cuong, in recent times, the Hanoi education sector has effectively implemented more than 800 topics on innovative teaching methods associated with technology and STEM, and at the same time, combined with prestigious organizations to develop academic playgrounds, creating opportunities for students to practice skills, develop IT capacity, aiming to become a generation of dynamic and creative digital citizens.
The Department Director also outlined five key tasks for the 2025-2026 school year to create a breakthrough in improving the quality of education: building a digital competency framework for students; tests, exercises and IT topics in schools will gradually integrate AI; piloting and replicating the "smart school" model; identifying IT and digital skills as a key task, associated with digital transformation in management and teaching; continuing to organize useful playgrounds to help students develop skills and foster IT capacity.
Representatives of IIG - the co-organizing unit - aim to expand the scale of the competition to all high schools in Hanoi, and at the same time soon build and train a team of elite students to compete internationally.
