Previously, at around 1pm on May 10, two male students, aged 14 and 15, went swimming at Nam O beach. While swimming, they were unfortunately swept away by waves and submerged. Local people discovered the incident and immediately called for help. However, by the time the authorities and local people arrived, both had passed away.
The identities of the two male students were later identified as D.XT and TQV (both born in 2011, residing in Hoa Son commune, Hoa Vang district, Da Nang ), both students at a middle school in Hoa Son commune.

According to local residents, the two male students who drowned while swimming in the sea were cousins. The area where the accident occurred is within the scope of the Nam O Eco- tourism project, which is currently under construction.
Representatives of the Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang tourist beaches said that in the summer, the situation of people, especially children, swimming in areas not yet licensed for tourism is quite common, posing many potential risks.
To ensure safety when swimming, especially for children, the Management Board recommends that you only swim in planned areas with lifeguards on duty, such as public beaches on Hoang Sa, Vo Nguyen Giap, and Nguyen Tat Thanh streets. Do not swim in areas under construction, in dangerous terrain, or without warning systems, even when the water is calm. Always have an adult accompany and closely supervise children when they go into the water. Pay attention to notice boards, red flags (no swimming), weather warnings, and offshore currents.
Da Nang City authorities said they will increase patrols and controls in unexploited coastal areas and advise people not to gather or swim spontaneously to prevent similar accidents.
