On the afternoon of May 30, the Hue City People's Committee held a regular press conference for May 2025. The incident of tourists breaking the national treasure of the Nguyen Dynasty throne at Thai Hoa Palace - Hue Imperial City on May 24 (reported by SGGP Newspaper) was questioned by many reporters.
At the press conference, Mr. Hoang Viet Trung, Director of the Hue Monuments Conservation Center, said that the breaking of the national treasure, the Nguyen Dynasty throne , was a very rare and heartbreaking incident.
After the incident, Mr. Trung, as the leader, admitted his shortcomings to the Hue City People's Committee. At the same time, he reviewed all the work of protecting, preserving, and promoting the value of artifacts, national treasures, and relic sites to seriously learn from experience and avoid similar incidents from happening again.

According to Mr. Trung, the staff, especially the security guards at the center, have made every effort to protect and promote the value of artifacts and heritage of the Nguyen Dynasty . However, due to the limited force and the large management area with dozens of relics throughout Hue City, the above unfortunate incident occurred.
"We are researching and planning to add more modern technology to the work of protecting relics. Including research into building a central security system with hundreds of surveillance cameras, thousands of fire alarm systems...", Mr. Trung said.

According to Mr. Tran Huu Thuy Giang, Chief of Office of Hue City People's Committee, after the incident of the national treasure of Nguyen Dynasty's throne being violated, the city's leaders directed a review of all work on protecting relics and national treasures throughout Hue City. Through the review, it was found that the current protection of relics still has many things that need to be reviewed and adjusted.
Hue City leaders requested the cultural sector and police to develop plans to protect the safety of relics, especially national treasures.
"Protecting national treasures is not only about avoiding direct human impacts on artifacts, but also protecting them from objective factors such as weather, humidity, fire and explosion... At the same time, museums are also places where we can effectively promote the values of artifacts," Mr. Giang emphasized.
