Hai Phong brings 'Green Frog's Dream' to the Experimental Theater Festival

Hai Phong Traditional Theater has basically completed preparations to participate in the 6th International Experimental Theater Festival - 2025 with the puppet show 'Dream of Green Frog'.

The 6th International Experimental Theatre Festival in 2025 is chaired by the Vietnam Association of Stage Artists, in coordination with the People's Committee of Ninh Binh province. The festival brings together nearly 30 domestic and international art units, taking place from November 15 to 30 in Hanoi , Ninh Binh province, Ho Chi Minh City and Hai Phong city.

Hai Phong Traditional Theatre will participate in the festival with the puppet show “The Dream of the Green Frog”, performed at 3:00 p.m. on November 19 at Song Cam Theatre, 274 Le Loi (Hai Phong). This is one of the works combining both water puppetry and stage puppetry, staged in an experimental way, bringing a contemporary breath to the traditional form of expression.

The play tells the story of a peaceful village pond where residents live in harmony until unusual signs appear, disrupting their familiar lives. On their journey to regain peace, the characters realize the meaning of protecting the environment through their daily actions. The work conveys the message: living in harmony with nature is to preserve each person's future.

“Green Frog’s Dream” brings together a creative team including scriptwriter Pham Xuan Hieu; director People’s Artist Nguyen Tien Dung; assistant director Meritorious Artist Do The Ban; art director Master Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy, Director of the Theater, along with artists from the Puppetry Art Troupe and actors from the Traditional Theater.

The play recreates the innocent and funny colors of childhood.

Participating in the festival is an opportunity for Hai Phong artists to introduce new discoveries in puppetry art, and at the same time exchange and learn creative experiences with international art troupes, contributing to spreading the value of traditional theater in contemporary life.
