Hai Phong City Police Women's Association adopted NPT whose father recently passed away and whose mother is being treated for cancer.

Kind hearts

NPT, born in 2019, has just been sponsored by the Hai Phong City Police Women's Association, starting a long journey until she turns 18.

T.’s father, an officer at the City Police Detention Center, recently passed away due to a serious illness. His mother is being treated for cancer and has to undergo regular chemotherapy. With no land to build a house, the mother and son rent a cramped room in Hong Bang Ward.

During the sponsorship ceremony, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thi Linh Chi, Head of the City Police Women's Committee, shared: "We hope that our children will feel that they always have mothers and aunts in the police force by their side. Not only will we support 500,000 VND/month, we will also accompany, love and be with them on the long journey ahead."

Not only the case of baby T., the "Godmother" movement in Hai Phong is spreading strongly. The leaders of the Police Department for Administrative Management of Social Order together with the Women's Union and the Youth Union visited the three children NKN born in 2018, VGB born in 2016 and BGGA born in 2015.

Each child has a different disadvantage, some are orphans, some have lost their mothers, some have fathers living abroad and cannot be contacted. They all live with their grandparents or elderly relatives, and are facing financial difficulties. Three gifts worth a total of 6 million VND were given to the children, starting a long-term journey of support, both materially and spiritually.

In Nam Dong ward, officers and soldiers have screened and received support from 3 particularly difficult cases. Bui Thi Kieu Trang, born in 2011, an orphan living with her aunt, was given a gift worth 4 million VND. The ward police committed to continue accompanying and supporting her to confidently go to school.

Khuc Thua Du Commune Police have just established the "Helping Children Go to School" Fund, and sponsored the first two students.

After surveying more than 100 disadvantaged students, Khuc Thua Du Commune Police established the “Helping Children Go to School” Fund. The first two students to be sponsored were BGP and NTH, with a monthly support of 500,000 VND and school supplies.

The spirit of “leaving no one behind” is spreading strongly throughout the force. Officers and soldiers of Thanh Ha Commune Police have just sponsored two children with especially difficult circumstances for the 2025-2026 school year. Each child will receive 3 million VND in support for the entire school year.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Duc Toan, Head of Thanh Ha Commune Police, shared: “We consider the children as our relatives. Not only do we provide financial support, but we also regularly visit, encourage, and closely monitor the children’s learning process so that they do not feel alone.”

In response to that sentiment, the two children promised to try to be good, study well, practice the five teachings of Uncle Ho and stay away from social evils. This was not only a thank you and a promise but also a motivation for the commune police force to continue maintaining this humane model.

The long journey is lit

The units regularly visit and accompany the students in their studies and lives.

According to statistics from the City Police, in the past 5 years, 120 children in difficult and extremely difficult circumstances have received regular support from local police units through the two models of "Godmother" and "Adopted Children of Commune Police". Many of these children have made remarkable progress, become confident, bold and have achieved better academic results.

Major Bui Ngoc Hung, Head of the Youth Affairs Department of Hai Phong City Police, said that the movement "Helping children go to school" was launched by the entire force in October 2025 and quickly received strong response.

For nearly 1.5 months, more than 30 commune-level police units have deployed support for disadvantaged children in many forms. Depending on the actual conditions, some places provide financial support one time, monthly, quarterly, and some places provide long-term sponsorship until the age of 18. The support level ranges from 300,000 - 500,000 VND/month, but the spiritual value is much greater.

"We always try to coordinate closely with families and schools to promptly check for students who need support, ensuring no one is left behind," said Mr. Hung.

Not only stopping at giving gifts or providing financial support, Hai Phong Police units consider accompanying disadvantaged children as a long-term mission. Many officers and soldiers regularly visit their homes, spend time listening to their confidences, and help with everything from studying to dealing with life problems.

The valuable thing is that most of the resources are mobilized from the contributions of the officers and soldiers. Those mothers and fathers in uniform not only protect the peace but also spend part of their income to nurture their children's dreams.

The children who used to be shy and lacking in confidence are now bolder. Some have been excellent students for many years in a row, some have promised to try to become good citizens, contributing to the development of their hometown Hai Phong. That is the greatest value that the program brings.

From the model of "Godmother", "Adopted child of Commune Police" to the movement "Helping children go to school", the Hai Phong City Police force is building a widespread network of love, supporting the less fortunate.
