On January 27, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Korea and the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) announced a list of the country's top 100 destinations for the period 2025-2026.
This is the result of a project launched in 2012 to evaluate and propose every two years the top 100 tourist destinations in Korea to promote to domestic and international tourists.
The list includes 61 cultural tourist attractions, such as historical sites, monuments and entertainment facilities, and 39 natural tourist attractions, including forests, seas and wetlands.

This year’s list was compiled based on big data analysis of social media search volume, as well as three rounds of written and face-to-face interviews with tourism industry experts. Seoul and its surrounding metropolitan area boast 22 destinations. Gyeongsang Province has 28 destinations. Jeolla Province has 18 destinations. Gangwon and Chungcheong Province each have 15 destinations. Jeju Island has six attractive destinations.
According to Kim Jeong Hoon, director of the Tourism Policy Bureau of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of South Korea, starting from this year's Lunar New Year holiday, the ministry will launch intensive campaigns to stimulate domestic tourism.
