Total passenger and freight transport output both grew strongly.
In the first 9 months, the total transport volume of the Vietnamese aviation market is estimated to reach more than 64 million passengers , an increase of nearly 11% over the same period in 2024. Cargo output also recorded impressive growth, reaching more than 1 million tons , an increase of nearly 19%.
International market boom
The main driving force behind this growth came from the international market. International passenger transport reached more than 35 million , up more than 13%, while international cargo transport also increased by nearly 23%, reaching more than 946 thousand tons. These figures reflect the strong recovery of global tourism and trade activities, and also show the growing attractiveness of Vietnam on the international map.
International passenger transport reached more than 35 million, an increase of more than 13%.
Vietnamese airlines played a key role in this success, accounting for a large proportion with nearly 44 million passengers (up more than 8%) and more than 343 thousand tons of cargo (up more than 5%). In the international transport sector alone, domestic airlines transported nearly 15 million passengers and more than 174 thousand tons of cargo, affirming their competitiveness and meeting the increasing demands of the market.
Many effective solutions
To achieve this impressive result, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has implemented many flexible and effective management solutions. According to the Authority's leaders, transport management has closely followed market developments and actual travel needs, especially during peak periods such as New Year's Eve, Lunar New Year 2025, summer and major holidays.
In order to maintain the development momentum and prepare for the end of the year, the Civil Aviation Authority has identified a number of key tasks. This agency will continue to review and perfect the policy mechanism and legal corridor, while strengthening operational supervision to ensure flight safety.
In addition, the Authority will also support airlines to improve the efficiency of fleet exploitation, increase supply on routes to meet year-end travel demand and prepare for Lunar New Year 2026.
Inter-sectoral coordination, towards long-term goals
Another important factor is the coordination and allocation of reasonable take-off and landing times at airports, along with close coordination with foreign aviation authorities to expand international operations.
In particular, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam emphasized that coordination with other sectors such as tourism, trade, and investment is an important solution to promote the achieved results, promoting overall growth for the entire economy . This shows that the strategic vision of the Vietnamese aviation industry does not stop at transporting passengers and goods but also contributes to the overall development of the country.
