Hau Giang is allowed to convert 12.5 hectares of rice land to implement a new urban area project.

In Document 381/TTg-NN dated June 10, 2024, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha approved the People's Committee of Hau Giang province to decide to change the purpose of using 12.5 hectares of rice-growing land to non- agricultural land to implement the Long My 2 New Urban Area Project, Thuan An Ward, Long My Town.

The Deputy Prime Minister requested the People's Committee of Hau Giang province to be responsible for the content and data of the report, to organize the inspection and review of the current status of land use, to ensure consistency in records and field data, in accordance with the rice-growing land quota allocated by the Prime Minister; to be fully responsible before the law and the Prime Minister for the decision to change the purpose of using rice-growing land in accordance with the provisions of the law on land and other relevant laws; to ensure economical and effective land use, to avoid loss and waste; to be responsible for checking and supervising the separation and use of the topsoil layer in accordance with the provisions of the law; to regularly check and resolve difficulties and problems in the process of organizing the implementation of changing the purpose of using rice-growing land in accordance with the provisions of the law.

The People's Committee of Hau Giang province accepts and fully implements the opinions of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, and can only decide to change the purpose of using rice-growing land when the project meets the conditions and complies with the provisions of law.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment is fully responsible for the organization of appraisal, appraisal results, completeness and accuracy of the attached records and documents and the content of the proposal to the Prime Minister to approve the change of rice land use purpose to implement the Long My 2 New Urban Area Project, Thuan An Ward, Long My Town, Hau Giang Province, ensuring compliance with regulations; monitoring and guiding the implementation of the above-mentioned change of rice land use purpose in accordance with the provisions of law.
