Thoroughly handle 6 trillion VND in delayed projects

In particular, the issue of waste is a very alarming issue, especially since there are still more than 2,800 projects and works nationwide that are slow or not put into use, which pose a risk of waste. A large resource of the state and society is lying dormant. Many projects have lasted for more than 10 years, and the lives of millions of people in the project areas continue to be affected for a long time.

For more than 15 years, Mr. Cao Thanh Binh (Phu Xuan commune, Thanh Hoa province) has been waiting for the reservoir to accumulate water every day to develop the economy . However, to this day, the Hoi Xuan hydropower project has not been completed. The dream of getting rich remains unfinished.

Started in 2010, Hoi Xuan hydropower project is identified as one of the key projects of Thanh Hoa province. However, financial difficulties have prevented the project from being completed.

Up to now, the Hoi Xuan hydropower project has not been completed.

6 trillion VND is the total capital for the extended projects. This capital is about twice the total public investment of the whole country in the period of 2021-2025. And the longer it is left, the more wasteful it is, especially affecting the development of many industries, localities and people in the project area.

Currently, projects that are slow or not put into use are occupying nearly 350,000 hectares of land. And if not reactivated, this will become an obstacle, hindering the development of many fields, so it is necessary to make a great effort to remove obstacles for these projects.

Mr. Ho Sy Hung - Chairman of the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry proposed: "Allow people to make adjustments, changes, restructuring or buying and selling to find a way out for these projects."

According to the Ministry of Finance, of the total number of delayed projects, there are currently 491 projects that localities have proposed to apply special mechanisms. Therefore, it is necessary to review and clearly define the authority to thoroughly handle these projects. With a total capital equivalent to nearly 50% of GDP, resolving the problems of delayed projects will not only free up capital, improve infrastructure but also promote double-digit growth in the following years.
