Provincial People's Council surveyed the quality of domestic water in Cang Long commune.

On the afternoon of October 24, the survey team of the Culture - Society Committee, Provincial People's Council, led by Comrade Le Thi Thuy Kieu - Provincial Party Committee member, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council, surveyed the situation of domestic water supply and the settlement of voters' petitions on water quality in Cang Long commune.

Currently, Cang Long commune has 3 operating water supply stations, providing domestic water to 10,415 households, reaching 118%. However, there are still 109 households (accounting for 1.25%) that have not used water from the centralized water supply station. Some households reported that the water was cloudy or weak during peak hours at My Cam Water Supply Station.

According to the management unit, My Cam Water Supply Station currently serves 2,542 households, exceeding its design capacity by 272%. The station takes water directly from May Tuc River, without a settling pond, so when people discharge water for agricultural production, the quality of the input water source is affected.

To overcome this situation, Vinh Long Rural Clean Water Center has invested in upgrading My Cam Water Supply Station with a capacity of 50m³/hour, with a settling pond for treatment. The project has been 100% completed and is in trial operation.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council - Le Thi Thuy Kieu acknowledged the efforts of Cang Long commune and the water supply unit in coordinating to resolve voters' opinions and recommendations on the quality of domestic water. At the same time, she requested the locality to continue to strengthen inspection and supervision work, and coordinate with the Vinh Long Rural Clean Water Center to maintain the quality of water sources, ensuring stable and safe water supply for people to use.

The functional sector continues to pay attention to supporting the water supply unit to soon put the upgraded My Cam Water Supply Station into official operation, at the same time consider expanding the water supply network, creating conditions for households without domestic water to soon use clean water, contributing to improving the lives of local people.
