Accordingly, the British-made Terrahawk Paladin short-range air defense system has been put into service with Ukraine's 156th Air Defense Missile Regiment, marking the first time this system has been confirmed to be in combat. In fact, the Terrahawk Paladin is a short-range anti-aircraft gun system designed to destroy UAVs that often target Ukrainian military and civilian infrastructure. Photo: @militarnyi. This system is equipped with a 30mm Mark 44 Bushmaster II cannon and includes a 360-degree surveillance radar, an electro-optical targeting system, and a night vision channel for offensive operations in low-visibility conditions. The Terrahawk Paladin is built on a MAN HX tactical truck chassis, allowing the launcher to function as a mobile platform or be quickly dismantled if needed. Photo: @militarnyi. Images of the vehicle operated by Ukraine show additional protective shields installed around the radar, a modification likely intended to protect critical sensors from damage in drone attacks or debris strikes. Fully autonomous mode allows the system to react quickly with minimal crew intervention, improving survivability in conditions where the operator must move rapidly or deal with multiple consecutive threats. As can be seen, the Terrahawk Paladin is joining the growing ranks of short-range anti-drone and air defense systems being supplied to Ukraine to counter the increasing threat from Russian drones, including the Shahed, Lancet, and small reconnaissance UAV platforms.
