According to DW , the Munich city prosecutor's office announced on December 13 that German authorities had arrested five men suspected of planning an attack on a Christmas market in southern Germany.
"The suspects were plotting an attack on a Christmas market in the Dingolfing area of Bavaria, southern Germany," German authorities said. However, the exact name of the market has not been revealed.

The Munich city prosecutor's office added that four men have had official arrest warrants issued against them, while the third is being held in custody. The suspects include a 56-year-old Egyptian, a 37-year-old Syrian, and three Moroccans aged 22, 28, and 30.
Bild was the first newspaper to report on the arrests. "Thanks to the excellent cooperation of the security services, many suspects were arrested in a short time, preventing a possible attack by Islamist extremists in Bavaria," Bavarian Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann told Bild .
According to DW , ensuring security at Christmas markets in Germany during the winter season is a top priority for the German authorities.
Previously, on December 20, 2024, a man drove an SUV into a Christmas market in the eastern German city of Magdeburg, killing six people and injuring more than 300 others. The perpetrator was later identified as Talib A., a 50-year-old Saudi Arabian.
