Doctors at Family Hospital successfully performed surgery on a baby girl with polydactyly in all four limbs.

According to baby L's mother, although her fingers and toes are still developing and have normal bones, her daily activities are hindered, especially when choosing shoes, exercising, and running.

The treatment process began with the two extra toes on the left and right feet. Here, doctors cut the bone, combined the bone, reconstructed the ligaments and tendons, and finally did cosmetic stitches. After removing the extra toes, doctors began the same procedure on both hands.

Two days after surgery, the baby's hands were able to perform movements such as grasping objects without pain.

Doctor Huynh Duc Anh - Family Hospital said that polydactyly is a congenital condition in which there are extra fingers or toes. This defect occurs in about 2/1,000 newborns and usually requires surgery to treat.

However, the simultaneous occurrence of polydactyly in all four limbs at the same time is extremely rare, with only a handful of cases reported worldwide .
