On May 21 in Hanoi , the National Cyber Security Association officially launched the "Students with the Hanoi Convention" contest to spread the spirit of international cooperation in preventing cybercrime to the young generation, the core force for the future of Vietnam's digital security.
The organizers said that the Contest is not only a playground for students but also an important first step in the journey to bring the Hanoi Convention closer to the community, especially in the context of a rapidly changing digital world , requiring careful preparation of knowledge, skills and legal awareness of the young generation.
The Convention against Cybercrime (Hanoi Convention) is a United Nations document that aims to establish a new international legal framework with tools to promote international cooperation in preventing and combating cybercrime. The Convention will be opened for signature in Hanoi in late October 2025.
This is the first time a Vietnamese place name has been associated with a global multilateral treaty related to a field of great interest to the international community, marking an important milestone in the history of Vietnam's multilateral diplomacy and the Vietnam - United Nations partnership.
The contest “Students with the Hanoi Convention” takes place from May 21 to June 20, 2025. By participating in the contest, students will be provided with diverse and visual materials, helping them understand the main contents such as: Background, core principles, rights and obligations of member states, the role of individuals and organizations in complying with and implementing the Convention.
After learning, candidates will take a test consisting of 15 multiple-choice questions and 1 essay question expressing their personal perspective on the role of students in promoting cyber security in the spirit of the Convention.
The Organizing Committee will select the contestants who answer the multiple choice questions correctly to enter the lucky draw. Thereby, valuable prizes will be awarded to individuals including: 1 First Prize, 1 Second Prize, 1 Third Prize and 20 Encouragement Prizes.
Mr. Vu Ngoc Son - Head of Technology Research Department, National Cyber Security Association, said: "The contest is an opportunity to help students better understand the meaning and significance of the Hanoi Convention - a landmark document in the field of cyber security. Especially, in the context of a constantly changing world, paying attention to complying with legal regulations will help form awareness of protecting cyberspace - an important factor for future global citizens."
In addition to the Competition, the National Cyber Security Association also revealed plans to expand student participation in major events related to the Convention Opening Ceremony in the coming time. Specifically, students will have the opportunity to participate in seminars, panel discussions, side events of the Opening Ceremony, and meet prestigious experts from many organizations, technology companies and cybersecurity leading in the world.
