Traditional Day of Natural Disaster Prevention May 22: Raising awareness throughout society

May 22 is chosen every year as "Vietnam's Traditional Day for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control" to raise awareness of the whole society about natural disaster prevention and control.

Faced with increasingly extreme weather conditions, Vietnam has shifted from passive response to proactive natural disaster prevention with synchronous and long-term solutions, such as building flood prevention and control works; reviewing, adjusting planning and relocating households out of areas at high risk of landslides and flash floods; prioritizing investment in early warning systems using automatic technology to each village, hamlet, etc.
