Hiep Thanh suffered heavy damage due to heavy rain, 200 hectares of vegetables were lost.

On the afternoon of October 28, the leader of Hiep Thanh commune informed that heavy rain on the evening of October 27 caused many areas in Hiep Thanh commune to be deeply flooded, more than 200 hectares of vegetables were lost, with total damage estimated at about 9 billion VND.

Although there were no human casualties, heavy rains caused heavy damage to agricultural production in Hiep Thanh. About 200 hectares of vegetables were flooded, damaged from 50 to 100%, with a total estimated value of nearly 9 billion VND.

Regarding residential housing, about 30 houses in the commune were deeply flooded, with water levels ranging from 1.2 to 1.5 meters. The Hiep An Kindergarten campus in Dinh An village was also flooded from 0.7 to 1 meter deep, directly affecting the school's teaching and learning activities.

In addition, heavy rains also damaged many traffic routes and essential infrastructure works. At group 11, Phi Nom village, an underground culvert continued to erode and collapse. Two cement traffic routes and a section of residential road in K'Long, Quang Hiep and Tan Hiep villages also suffered erosion and collapsed embankments.

As soon as the disaster occurred, rescue work was urgently deployed to protect people's lives. The commune's forces approached and successfully evacuated 5 citizens from the dangerous flooded area.

In particular, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of the Provincial Police mobilized 2 fire trucks and 1 rescue vehicle to participate in the rescue, bringing 11 people from 5 flooded and isolated households out of the dangerous area to safety.

The People's Committee of Hiep Thanh Commune has directed the Commune Civil Defense Command to coordinate with departments and self-governing boards of villages to implement the "4 on-site" policy to promptly overcome the consequences. The forces have put up warning signs and stretched barricades in dangerous landslide areas, and at the same time supported people to evacuate the elderly, children, livestock and property to safe shelters.

Currently, the People's Committee of Hiep Thanh commune is directing specialized agencies to urgently review and compile detailed statistics on the damage, as a basis for proposing support plans according to regulations, helping people stabilize their lives soon.
