(To Quoc) - Da Nang General Science Library has implemented many digital transformation activities, including a 24/7 automatic book return machine to help readers easily, conveniently and save time for this process.

To be put into use at the end of 2023, the 24/7 automatic book return machine is the first machine using RFID technology in the public library system in Vietnam. The machine can help readers return books every day of the week, without having to wait for library opening hours.

Readers just need to put the book in the return box and follow the steps as instructed on the screen to complete the book return process. In addition, RFID technology helps to automatically read the code on the book to help identify and classify books.

The 24/7 automatic book return machine at the Da Nang General Science Library helps readers save time when returning books.

Reader Thanh Hang (residing in Hai Chau district, Da Nang) shared that the Da Nang General Science Library has implemented many digital transformation activities, including a very convenient 24/7 automatic book return machine. Previously, readers had to come during the library's working hours, meet the librarian and complete the book return procedure, which was very time-consuming. Now with this machine, they can return books at any time, without fear of being late.

"All book return operations at this machine are very fast, it only takes a short time to complete. I just hope that in the future the library will also equip an automatic book borrowing tool, it will be so much more convenient for readers," reader Thanh Hang shared.

It is known that the 24/7 automatic book return system only allows books to be returned at the lending and children's warehouses, applicable to books that are still within the return deadline. For books that are overdue, readers should contact the librarian to complete the return. This is an important breakthrough in the digital transformation of the library, contributing to saving time, human resources and better meeting the needs of readers in the current period.

According to the Project on developing the public library system in Da Nang city in the period of 2021 - 2025, with a vision to 2030, approved by the Da Nang People's Committee, in the coming time, district and county libraries will also be equipped with automatic book lending and returning machines. The General Science Library is continuing to develop and perfect applications on smart mobile devices to provide readers with services and the ability to access the library's information resources anytime, anywhere./.
