The effectiveness of digital agricultural maps.

The application of digital maps in production helps in planning crops and livestock suitable to soil and climate conditions; managing land resources effectively; forecasting and preventing natural disasters; connecting supply chains between production and consumption; promoting exports; and increasing the brand value of agricultural products. To achieve these goals, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment is actively encouraging production facilities and businesses to upload their products to the agricultural digital map system.

The effectiveness of digital agricultural maps.

Officials from the Provincial Agricultural Extension Center guided Mr. Duong Van Phuoc on how to get his products listed on the province's digital agricultural product map.

After loading the goods onto the truck for delivery to the distribution points, Mr. Duong Van Phuoc, owner of Phuoc Duyen sausage, ham, and fermented pork roll production facility in Tien Luong commune, happily chatted: "Previously, our products were mainly sold within the commune, with low production volume and unstable consumption, so we couldn't proactively manage our production. Since participating in the digital agricultural map system, more customers know about our products, the market has expanded, so the volume of goods has increased, and the scale of production has expanded. Through the digital map system, customers can trace the location, origin, production time, and expiration date of the products. This has built trust among consumers."

Digital transformation is becoming an inevitable trend in production and business, especially in the agricultural sector, helping to optimize production processes, improve management efficiency, and expand consumer markets. Recognizing the importance of this trend, the Department of Agriculture and Environment has implemented a digital transformation software for agriculture (nongsanphutho.com.vn), with the prominent feature of a "Digital Agricultural Product Map". This feature supports businesses, cooperatives, and agricultural production facilities in accessing markets more quickly and efficiently, thereby enhancing competitiveness and product value. Following the provincial merger, the digital data systems of the former provinces continue to be updated, creating favorable conditions for agricultural production facilities within the province to build linkages.

Mr. Dang Ngoc Nga, Deputy Director of the Provincial Agricultural Extension Center, stated: The Department of Agriculture and Environment has assigned the Provincial Agricultural Extension Center to lead the development of the software, expanding it with many new features. These improvements not only enhance the connection between supply and demand but also support the management of production data, helping to monitor and analyze the agricultural production process, thereby improving product and service quality. The new features will contribute to promoting the sustainable development of the agricultural sector, creating a solid foundation for the effective and long-term development of local agricultural products. This digital platform helps production units integrate with e-commerce platforms such as Shopee, TikTok, and Lazada, while also leveraging social media for promotion and sales. The "Digital Agricultural Product Map" allows consumers to easily search for information on production facilities, filter products according to their needs, and order directly, reducing the role of intermediaries and optimizing costs.

To date, the software system has digitized more than 150,000 pages of specialized documents, helping management agencies look up data on planting area codes, livestock farms meeting disease safety standards, FSC sustainable forest certification, and OCOP product catalogs. This helps to increase transparency in the supply chain, ensure product quality, and enhance the reputation of local agricultural products. In addition, thousands of businesses, cooperatives, production groups, and production facilities have participated in the system, helping to widely promote Phu Tho's agricultural products on the digital system and expand their consumer markets.

To date, the Department of Agriculture and Environment has built and put into operation a land database of 781,339 land parcels belonging to all 148 communes and wards, integrating it into the system for 24/7 access. Of these, 45/148 communes inherited and transferred data from communes that had previously completed database construction; 103/148 communes already had land parcel data built during the process of handling administrative procedures.

Despite its many benefits, the digital transformation of agriculture still faces numerous challenges. One of the biggest obstacles is traditional production habits, which make many farmers and cooperatives hesitant or unfamiliar with applying digital technology to their production and business activities. This requires management agencies and businesses to continue developing technological solutions, adopting a more flexible approach, and combining training, guidance, and system upgrades to suit the practical needs of users.

To promote digital transformation in agriculture, the Provincial Agricultural Extension Center will intensify training for businesses and cooperatives on how to utilize digital platforms, build online stores, and use digital marketing tools, developing applications to increase accessibility and convenience for users. Furthermore, it will build and upgrade systems, expand features, and connect with other platforms to support market trend analysis, optimize supply-demand connections, and help businesses make decisions based on real-world data. This will accelerate the digitalization process of the agricultural sector, contributing to the development of the province's agriculture in a modern, stable, sustainable, and environmentally friendly direction.
