On the evening of March 31, Dr. Phung Kim Phu - Principal of Hoang Dieu High School ( Soc Trang ) - confirmed that he had sent an open letter to teachers, parents and students.
In the open letter, Mr. Phu emphasized that in nearly 70 years of construction and development, Hoang Dieu High School has always steadfastly placed the personality of teachers, the self-study spirit of students and the responsible companionship of parents as the foundation for a humane and quality learning environment.
However, according to Mr. Phu, the situation of illegal extra teaching and learning has been negatively affecting the school.
"Therefore, with my responsibility, I earnestly hope that teachers will always keep the flame of love for the profession, love students as their own children, always promote self-respect and professional pride, focus on personalityeducation , arouse life values and inspire students to learn.
I hope that the teachers of the school absolutely do not organize or participate in illegal extra teaching in any form.
"Each main lesson needs to be designed creatively and flexibly, applying technology and artificial intelligence, and innovating testing and assessment to contribute to developing students' comprehensive capacity," Mr. Phu suggested.
For parents, the principal of Hoang Dieu High School hopes that parents will have reasonable expectations for their children, avoiding putting pressure on their children's grades and unintentionally supporting illegal extra classes.
"Instead, parents should accompany and encourage their children to practice independence, self-control and self-responsibility. Believe in the positive changes in education today," Mr. Phu suggested.
As for the students, the principal advised that every day at school is a journey of discovery , creativity and self-affirmation. Respect your teachers and love your friends. Don’t let the rampant extra classes take away your time, money, health and joy of learning.
"Sustainable progress must start from your own self-study efforts, will and desire to improve. I hope you will boldly say no to widespread extra classes and tell me if you see signs of violations, so we can work together to correct them," Mr. Phu requested.
Hoang Dieu High School currently has 45 classes with a total of 1948 students. The total number of staff, teachers and employees of the school is 106 people.
