On October 31, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Department of Tourism organized the "Conference on Linking Medical Tourism Development between Ho Chi Minh City and provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta and Southeast regions". The event marked an important step forward in forming a comprehensive, inter-regional healthcare ecosystem, aiming at the goal of sustainable development and enhancing the Vietnamese tourism brand.
Speaking at the opening of the conference, Ms. Bui Thi Ngoc Hieu - Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism affirmed: "Ho Chi Minh City with its modern healthcare system, team of good doctors, professional tourism services and unique cultural identity has all the conditions to become the leading medical tourism - resort center in the region."
In recent years, Ho Chi Minh City's Medical Tourism - Healthcare products have developed strongly, affirming its leading position. The city owns a diverse network of hospitals and medical facilities with high professional qualifications, along with a team of doctors trained to international standards. The system of modern accommodation facilities, spas, resorts and treatment centers is constantly expanding, providing comprehensive service packages from medical examination and treatment, rehabilitation, beauty care to energy regeneration.
With the advantage of reasonable cost and professional service, Ho Chi Minh City is not only a safe destination but also a place where tourists can experience the journey of "Comprehensive Health Care", harmoniously combining modern medicine, traditional medicine and natural therapies.

Statistics show that about 30-40% of tourists come to Ho Chi Minh City for medical treatment, mainly from Cambodia and Laos, with a significant increase in visitors from the US, Australia, Canada, Japan and the overseas Vietnamese community.
The focus of the conference is the business-to-business (B2B) session, where parties introduce products, sign cooperation agreements and build inter-route tours. These tours will combine medical examination and treatment at modern hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City with a period of relaxation and recovery at eco-zones, hot springs and luxury resorts in the Mekong Delta and Southeast provinces, creating a comprehensive value chain between the healthcare, tourism and healthcare services sectors.

This close connection not only promotes regional economic development but also contributes to elevating the Vietnamese tourism brand in a green, sustainable and humane direction. It turns each tourist's journey into not only a physical healing but also a profound cultural experience, discovering the unique features of each locality.
The Medical Tourism Development Partnership Conference is not only an important cooperation event, but also a promising start for the journey to create a comprehensive health ecosystem, where Ho Chi Minh City plays a core role, together with neighboring provinces and cities, creating unique medical tourism products that are competitive beyond national borders./.
According to data from the Ministry of Health, the size of the medical tourism market in Vietnam reached about 700 million USD in 2024 and is forecast to reach nearly 4 billion USD in 2033, with an average growth rate of 18%/year. This is a large "piece of cake" that cooperation between regions is the key to exploiting effectively.
