On the morning of October 31, at the Grand Saigon Hotel (Saigon Ward), the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism organized a Conference on Linking the Development of Medical Tourism with the participation of representatives of departments, provinces, cities in the Mekong Delta region, travel businesses, hospitals, health care facilities...

In recent years, medical tourism has become a typical product of Ho Chi Minh City, affirming its position as a high-quality medical and tourism center of the country. The city has modern medical infrastructure, a team of good doctors, professional accommodation - treatment - resort services, reasonable costs, attracting more and more domestic and foreign tourists.

This event aims to strengthen public-private cooperation, expand regional linkages, and form a comprehensive healthcare tourism ecosystem. Speaking at the conference, Ms. Bui Thi Ngoc Hieu, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, said that the city has 162 hospitals and more than 9,000 specialized clinics, 351 private specialized and general clinics with a team of highly qualified doctors and nurses, and reasonable costs for medical examination and treatment are important foundations for developing medical tourism.
According to the Ministry of Health , the global medical tourism market will reach 100 billion USD in 2024, with an annual growth rate of 15%-25%. In Vietnam, the market size reached about 700 million USD in 2024 and is forecast to reach nearly 4 billion USD by 2033, with an average growth rate of 18%/year.

In Ho Chi Minh City alone, 30% - 40% of out-of-town and foreign visitors come for medical examination and treatment, mainly from Cambodia and Laos. Recently, the number of visitors from the US, Australia, Canada, Japan, and overseas Vietnamese has also increased significantly. These figures show that the city has a huge potential for exploiting and developing medical tourism.
Ms. Bui Thi Ngoc Hieu emphasized: “HCMC has all the conditions to become the leading medical tourism and resort center in the region. We hope that through this conference, localities and businesses will cooperate, promote their strengths, and spread the image of HCMC - Destination of health, experience and happiness strongly domestically and internationally.”

Previously, from October 29 to 30, a working group of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism organized a survey program of typical medical tourism destinations such as Hanh Phuc International Hospital (Binh Hoa Ward), Ho Chi Minh City Traditional Medicine Hospital (Xuan Hoa Ward), Vinmec Central Park Hospital (Thanh My Tay Ward), Minera Hot Springs Binh Chau (Binh Chau Commune)... to strengthen the connection of the Medical - Tourism value chain, develop inter-regional products combining health care, energy recovery and local cultural experiences.
