Coach Kim Sang Sik is confident that the Vietnamese team can defeat Thailand in the two finals of the 2024 ASEAN Cup (AFF Cup) to lift the championship trophy. “Happy New Year, thank you for coming here to support the Vietnamese team. Thailand is a big mountain, but there is no mountain that we cannot overcome. I hope I can help the Vietnamese team reach the top of the mountain in the two upcoming matches. The Vietnam team vs Thailand is a Southeast Asian derby. Tomorrow's match is very difficult. However, we won against Singapore in the 2 semi-finals, so we hope to have a good match against Thailand. I have a little experience in these types of finals when I was in Korea. Meeting Thailand tomorrow is also a special occasion for me as the head coach of the Vietnam team. I will try to bring a New Year's gift to Vietnamese fans ,” coach Kim Sang Sik emphasized. Evaluating the opponent, coach Kim Sang Sik said: “ The Thai players are very tired because they had to play extra time in the second leg of the semi-final 2 days ago and traveled a long distance yesterday to get here. That is good news for us.”

Regarding the fact that Vietnamese players often have a weak mentality when facing Thailand, Coach Kim affirmed that everything has changed. “ My players are more confident and will have more chances to score. I want to emphasize that the fact that Vietnamese players often have a weak mentality when facing Thailand is a thing of the past. The Vietnamese team is now only focused on the present. Vietnamese players are now in a better mentality than ever. I told the players the message that one is to be champions, two must also be champions, there is no other result, ” Coach Kim Sang Sik concluded.
