Coach Polking: 'I gave advice to Nguyen Filip'
Goalkeeper Nguyen Filip's mistake caused Hanoi Police Club (CAHN Club) to only get 1 point against Beijing Quoc An Club on the opening day of AFC Champions League 2.
Similarly, at the Southeast Asian playground (ASEAN Club Championship), CAHN Club also lost 1-2 to Pathum United due to a goal in extra time, when Filip's poor pass created an opportunity for Chanathip Songkrasin to finish from midfield, sealing the comeback in a shorthanded situation for Pathum.

The uncertain matches in the past month are putting pressure on Nguyen Filip. Before the match against Cebu (Philippines) in the second round of the ASEAN Club Championship group stage taking place at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow (September 24) at Hang Day Stadium, coach Alexandre Polking affirmed that goalkeeper Nguyen Filip needs to focus more.
"I spent time talking and giving advice to Nguyen Filip. I have no doubt that Filip is number 1. He is at the highest level, there is no doubt. However, Filip has had some moments of losing focus, which led to poor results. We will improve this," Mr. Polking assessed.
Both CAHN and Cebu lost their opening matches of the Southeast Asian Cup 1. While CAHN lost 1-2 at Pathum Stadium, Cebu also lost 1-3 to Tampines Rovers (Singapore).
"CAHN Club's goal is nothing more than 3 points, because in the opening match, we did not have a favorable result. The whole team must focus to defeat Cebu.

Cebu is a big team, competing for the championship in the Philippines. Cebu has many good players, good foreign players. However, CAHN Club has grasped their strength and has prepared. Both teams did not start well and need points in this match. We need to improve more, focus more, especially on finishing and solving situations," Coach Polking emphasized.
'CAHN Club players need to focus'
CAHN Club is racing in the V-League with second place (10 points after 4 matches), but in the international arena, coach Polking's team did not win the first two matches.
When asked if the habit of conceding goals in the final minutes is an obstacle (CAHN Club conceded goals in the last 10 minutes of matches against Hai Phong , Hanoi and Pathum), Mr. Polking commented: "In the 2 V-League matches against Hai Phong Club and Hanoi Club, we won, that is still the most important thing. In the match against Beijing Guoan, the players could not stay focused so they lost points regrettably."
However, the German coach emphasized that "international playgrounds are always important for all teams, because players can compete against highly skilled teams. CAHN Club wants to participate regularly and go deep in international tournaments."
"Tomorrow, CAHN Club will be without Quang Hai, Viet Anh and Adou Minh, but we will work with focus. We have a good force, good players. CAHN Club's new recruits are also very good. We trust them," Mr. Polking concluded.
CAHN Club will face Cebu at 7:30 p.m. on September 24 at Hang Day Stadium. Last season at the "fortress" Hang Day, CAHN Club had an undefeated record.
