On the afternoon of December 6, U22 Malaysia defeated U22 Laos 4-1 in the second match of Group B men's football SEA Games 33.
Malaysia unexpectedly let their opponent take the lead, however with their mettle, coach Nafuzi Zain's team successfully made a comeback.
Sharing at the post-match press conference, Mr. Zain felt extremely lucky to win: “We feel lucky with this victory. We had a bit of difficulty in the first half, but in the second half when we scored, our confidence increased and we are satisfied with the result. Now we need to prepare for a very difficult match against Vietnam.”
He complained that there was not enough players for the SEA Games because the Super League (Malaysia National Championship) was taking place so the clubs did not release players to the team. In total, U22 Malaysia was only allowed to register 19/23 players.
