Set in the majestic mountains of Ninh Binh , the film chooses the martial arts, psychological, and emotional genres to express a tragic epic, imbued with national spirit, inspired by one of the mysterious folk legends about King Dinh's tomb.

“Ho linh Trang si – Bi am to mo vuong Dinh” is directed by Nguyen Phan Quang Binh. He is the director of famous and beloved films such as “Vu khuc con co”, “Canh dong bat tan”, “Quyen”, “Bi mat cua gio”. Of which, “Canh dong bat tan” is the first art film to break the box office revenue in Vietnam, and “Vu khuc con co” is the first international cooperation work about the war against America to be filmed in Vietnam.

In addition, Nguyen Phan Quang Binh is also the producer of the films "Ao lua Ha Dong" and "Tam Cam: The Untold Story" which were loved by audiences and won film awards...

He shared: “This is a project that I have been pondering for 10 years, ever since I accidentally heard a legendary story from a ferryman in Ninh Binh. For me, choosing a historical theme is like returning to my roots. But when I started making a film, even a legendary one, I encountered many obstacles. However, I feel proud of such legends, and making a film to introduce a historical issue is something I have always wanted to do.”

This project was initiated from the signing of a cooperation agreement on electricity development between the Association for Film Development Promotion and Ninh Binh province in October 2024, with the goal of attracting, promoting filmmaking and gradually building the film industry in Ninh Binh associated with the development of tourism , cultural industry, and entertainment industry of Ninh Binh province.

BHD General Director Ngo Thi Bich Hanh introduced the first ideas about the project.

At this signing ceremony, Ms. Ngo Thi Bich Hanh, General Director of BHD, revealed the first images of the project, and hoped that the project would be successful, contributing to promoting tourism and economic development, attracting foreign filmmakers to Ninh Binh.

“The Guardian Spirit of the Warrior – The Mystery of King Dinh’s Tomb” is revealed to be a breathtaking and mysterious journey about the mystical story that happened during the reign of King Dinh.

After King Dinh Tien Hoang tragically passed away, 7 warriors were assigned a top secret mission: racing against time, confronting hostile forces, taking the king's 100 coffins in 7 different directions, deceiving the enemy who was planning to destroy the tomb - the place believed to be the source of prosperity for the nation.

The project promises exciting action scenes.

But what lies hidden in those coffins? Is it just the body of the first Emperor, or is there a greater secret that the seven warriors have sworn to protect? Their journey is not only a battle with external enemies, but also an internal battle, where loyalty, love and sacrifice intertwine, creating a heroic song.

The film tells the story of seven heroes with extraordinary strength and indomitable spirit, about family love, teacher-student love, love between couples, loyalty to the king and above all, the desire to protect the national territory.

Besides, “Ho linh trang si” not only tells about the mystery of King Dinh’s tomb, but also sends a message that the soul of the country lies not only in the tombs or ancient relics, but also in every breath and every step we take on this land.

Making historical films, even legendary films, often encounters many difficulties, first of all in terms of historical documents. Director Nguyen Phan Quang Binh said that documents about this period, especially ancient costumes, are extremely limited. Disruptions and shortages due to war and time have made documents, especially visual documents about costumes of this period, extremely rare and incomplete.

We cannot let the limitations of costume materials prevent filmmakers from telling a story of ancient Vietnamese people so that the young generation can be more proud of the heroes of the nation. During the film introduction, BHD cooperated with the People's Committee and the Department of Culture of Ninh Binh province to organize a workshop on costumes and ancient costumes of the Dinh Dynasty.

Ms. Ngo Thi Bich Hanh said the project invited 5 groups of consultants to design ancient costumes for the film.

At the workshop, BHD invited 5 consulting groups on ancient costumes of the film crew to present papers and exhibit the costumes they had researched about this period.

The authors participating in the 5 research groups on Dinh Dynasty costumes and ancient costumes for the film are all young, enthusiastic and talented people such as Nguyen Ngoc Phuong Dong from Dai Viet Co Phong and Vietnam Center, Pham Thu Hang and artist Cao Viet Nguyen from Kinh Bac Legacy, Nam Thanh Phan (Am Che) from Toc Xanh Vat Ao, Duong Pham Tri, founder of Chieu Minh Cac, Vu Duc from Great Vietnam.

In addition, the “Love Ancient Costumes” section of the conference also had the participation of CEO Nguyen Duc Loc of Y Van Hien and many young people from the Bach Hoa Bu Hanh group participating in the performance of ancient costumes from other eras of Vietnam. The filmmakers hope that the costumes of the film will meet the needs of the audience, both beautiful and true to the historical period, while at the same time arousing the love for traditional values of the nation among young people, especially in the context of the ancient costume movement that has been developing strongly again recently.

BHD General Director Ngo Thi Bich Hanh shared that this is BHD's passion project, and also the first historical film project that BHD has made in Ninh Binh. The film is not only a desire to contribute to making Ninh Binh a new film studio, especially for historical, legendary, and wild history projects, but also a tribute to the first emperor of the country.
