On May 15, the Gifted High School, Ho Chi Minh City National University, announced that it received 3,509 applications for the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2025-2026 school year, nearly 9% less than the previous school year.
Although the number of applications fluctuated, the average competition ratio of the school was still recorded at 1/6, down 0.5 from last year. This shows that the attraction of the Gifted High School remains high.
Statistics show that specialized classes in English, math and literature continue to receive the most attention from candidates. Specifically, English has nearly 1,270 candidates registered, followed by math with more than 1,000 students, and literature with 782 students registered.

Notably, the admissions council noted that the registration for the exams does not fully reflect the competition ratio for the 17 specialized classes. With the admission method based on the wishes according to the corresponding admission combinations, it is impossible to accurately determine the "competition ratio".
Therefore, the admissions board recommends that candidates avoid speculation about the competition rate, which can cause unnecessary pressure on the exam. Instead, the school wants students to focus on completing the chosen exams as best as possible.
