On March 24, the People's Committee of Dak Na commune, Tu Mo Rong district, Kon Tum province said that the authorities had helped bring three citizens residing in the area home safely after being tricked into going to Cambodia with the trick of "easy work, high salary".
In August 2024, A Nhanh (19 years old), A Kun (20 years old), and A Kien (20 years old), all residing in Dak Na commune, went to Binh Duong province to work as workers. During this time, A Nhanh searched online for a job and was offered an attractive salary of 1,000 USD/month by a broker. Realizing that this was a high income, all three went to Moc Bai border gate (Tay Ninh province) to do paperwork to apply for a job, but were tricked into going to Cambodia by the brokers .
Mr. A Nhanh shared that in Cambodia, all 3 had their phones confiscated, were locked in a room and forced to do tasks such as creating online scam groups, downloading scam apps... Due to poor IT skills, language, and accents typical of ethnic minorities, all 3 could not fulfill the targets assigned by the managers and were often beaten and starved.
On February 20, 2025, A Kun and A Kien escaped and were helped by local people to return to their hometown on February 24. A Nhanh also escaped but was detained by Thai police. Upon receiving the information, the authorities actively contacted and assisted in bringing A Nhanh back to Vietnam. Currently, A Nhanh has been safely returned home to Dak Na commune, with stable health condition.
Chairman of the Dak Na Commune People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Thuy said that, for now, the commune has visited and encouraged the three victims who were tricked into going to Cambodia. After the victims' psychological state has stabilized, the commune will invite these victims to a village meeting to share their stories of being deceived in order to help people, especially ethnic minorities, raise their vigilance and not be gullible and gullible to the attractive invitation of "easy work, high salary".
