Support canoes to improve rescue capacity during flood season

DNO - In response to the need for rescue work in floods, many organizations and individuals promptly provided canoes, contributing to enhancing the response capacity of localities.

Mr. Vu Kim Ngoc, Secretary of the Nong Son Commune Youth Union, said that the locality has just received 4 canoes with a total value of 80.8 million VND to serve search and rescue work.

This is practical and timely support in the context of complicated flood developments. During the recent floods, many local roads were cut off, making it difficult for authorities to move.

According to Mr. Ly Xuan Phong, Chairman of Nong Son Commune People's Committee, during the flood season at the end of October, the locality always proactively and synchronously deployed the response to heavy rain and flooding according to the motto "4 on-site".

“With the support of canoes from organizations and individuals during the storm season, we have more conditions to ensure people's safety and minimize property damage,” said Mr. Phong.

In Duy Xuyen commune, Mr. Dang Huu Phuc, Chairman of the People's Committee of the commune, said that recently, the Duy Xuyen Commune Association in Ho Chi Minh City coordinated with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune to donate 4 canoes with a total value of 120 million VND.

The total cost of purchasing the canoes was raised from the contributions of fellow countrymen living across the country. Among them, one canoe was contributed by the Quang Nam - Da Nang Mutual Aid Club and one canoe was supported by businesswoman Nguyen Thi Hoa, a native of Duy Xuyen.
