According to Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Quang Tung - Deputy Director of the Central Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, through the survey, this time there are 10 pediatric patients with difficult circumstances who unfortunately suffer from blood diseases such as Thalassemia, bone marrow failure, leukemia and are being treated at the Stem Cell Transplant Department and the Pediatric Blood Disease Department of the Institute. These are diseases that require long-term treatment, requiring large costs, up to hundreds of millions of VND per case, while most of the pediatric patients come from families with extremely difficult circumstances.
Receiving the proposal from the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, the Vietnam Children's Fund in coordination with the Vietnam Bank Trade Union has joined in the work of supporting children in especially difficult circumstances. At the program, Ms. Nguyen Khanh Chi - Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Bank Trade Union said: Donating funds to support treatment for children in difficult circumstances is one of the many meaningful activities of the Trade Union in volunteer work with the community, especially with children - the future buds of the country. Although the material value is not much, it is hoped that this will be a timely support for the children to have more opportunities for the best treatment.
Over the past 13 years (from 2012 to present), the Vietnam Banking Trade Union has coordinated with the Vietnam Children's Fund to carry out many practical activities to support children in special and difficult circumstances across the country through activities such as awarding scholarships, building schools, classrooms, learning equipment, etc. with a total cost of nearly 19 billion VND.
Sharing and understanding the situation of the sick children and their families, Mr. Dinh Tien Hai - Director of the Vietnam Children's Fund encouraged the children to feel secure in their treatment to recover and be healthy soon. The program supports treatment costs for sick children in difficult circumstances as a spiritual "medicine" to bring love and warmth to the sick children and their families, reducing the pain of illness that they are suffering.

One of the cases supported in the program is patient Ho Nguyen Ha Vy (born in 2015, Nghe An ). Doctors diagnosed Ha Vy with BetaThalassemia, treated at the Institute since 2020, when she was only 5 years old. She is currently undergoing an allogeneic stem cell transplant (stem cell source from her father). However, the patient is experiencing transplant rejection, continuous fever, severe infection, and is waiting for foreign experts to consult to plan a second transplant. The cost of treatment for Ha Vy is up to hundreds of millions of VND, while her father is a worker, her mother is a freelancer, with an unstable income, the family had to borrow money from relatives to treat Ha Vy's illness but it was still not enough.
Receiving support from the Vietnam Children's Fund and the Vietnam Banking Trade Union for his child, Mr. Ho Xuan Hang, father of patient Ho Nguyen Ha Vy, was moved to express his gratitude to the agencies for their care and help so that the family could have more conditions to continue treating their child./.
