After more than 2 years of implementation, the “She Feeds the World” program in Vietnam has supported more than 8,000 people in 2 Central Highlands provinces to access and apply sustainable farming methods. Thereby, helping to improve the income of many farmers and communities.
The “She Feeds the World” program, a collaborative initiative between the PepsiCo Foundation and CARE, officially concluded phase 1 in Vietnam after more than 2 years of effective implementation to improve agricultural production and enhance capacity for local communities.
Launched in September 2022, the initiative focuses on promoting sustainable agricultural practices, improving productivity and supporting farmers' livelihoods in Gia Lai and Dak Lak provinces.
As of April 2025, the “She Feeds the World” program in Vietnam has created tangible impacts, supporting more than 8,000 people to access and apply sustainable farming methods, increase control and access to production resources, and improve market participation.
Since 2019, the PepsiCo Foundation has partnered with CARE International to implement the “She Feeds the World” program.
The initiative has a total investment of 18.2 million USD, implemented in 8 countries: Vietnam, Thailand, India, Pakistan, Peru, Colombia, Egypt and Uganda.
The initiative aims to improve the livelihoods of women farmers and their communities globally. It also provides support to help women build skills and confidence in sustainable agricultural practices, engage in markets, and ensure food and nutrition security – thereby increasing productivity and income.
In Vietnam, the program is effectively implemented thanks to the coordination of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment - Partnership for Sustainable Agriculture Development Vietnam (PSAV), the National Agricultural Extension Center (NAEC), CARE International and the Center for Community Development (CDC) to address the challenges facing small-scale farmers in the Central Highlands.
By introducing sustainable farming methods and promoting public-private partnerships (PPPs), the program has helped increase agricultural productivity, improve access to resources, and open up new market opportunities.
Through training and skills development, the program has provided farmers with the tools they need to improve production efficiency while protecting the environment.

The initiative also brought together stakeholders in the PPP model to discuss, share and replicate successful models in sustainable agriculture, technology application and market connection in Vietnam.
As of April 2025, the “She Feeds the World” program in Vietnam has created tangible impacts, supporting more than 8,000 people to access and apply sustainable farming methods, increase control and access to production resources, and improve market participation.
The program has contributed to changing farming methods through key innovations such as the adoption of soil health monitoring technology, water-saving drip irrigation systems, and improved fertilization solutions using organic fertilizers.
These changes have resulted in a 20% increase in yield, a 30% reduction in chemical fertilizer use, and a 20% reduction in water consumption.
In addition, the program has also successfully promoted contract farming with PepsiCo Foods Vietnam, covering nearly 100 hectares of potato land. The focus of these efforts is on capacity building of women farmers, who have actively participated in all program activities.
The program has also supported national-level research and PSAV annual events on technology adoption, climate change adaptation and emission reduction practices in the fruit and vegetable sector.
Through the program, the community agricultural extension network also actively participates in organizing practical training courses, sharing experiences and developing guidance documents on value chain models for nationwide replication.
“Partnering with the PepsiCo Foundation and CARE has helped us realize our shared goal of promoting sustainable agriculture in Vietnam. Through this program, we not only increase productivity but also help farmers access markets, improve incomes, contribute to food security and a better future for families. The program also contributes to strengthening public-private partnerships to effectively develop advanced agricultural linkage models,” said Mr. Le Quoc Thanh, Director of the National Agricultural Extension Center.
Director of CDC Dak Lak Bach Thanh Tuan said that the program has created significant changes for farmers in Dak Lak. Not only has the increase in production been recorded, the community has also improved its ability to adapt to sustainable farming methods. This initiative has empowered local farmers, especially women, helping them improve their long-term sustainable livelihoods.
The program results showed that farmers’ incomes improved significantly due to higher productivity, better access to markets, and the adoption of new farming techniques. A notable result was the program’s focus on supporting women farmers, with over 60% of participants being women. This initiative has given them more control over their agricultural production.
“The project demonstrates the power of multi-stakeholder partnerships and the positive changes that can be achieved through the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices. The close collaboration between the PepsiCo Foundation, CARE and local partners not only contributes to improving agricultural productivity but also promotes women’s active role in the production process,” said Ms. Le Kim Dung, Country Director of CARE Vietnam.
Mr. Nguyen Kim Hanh, Director of Agriculture of PepsiCo Foods Vietnam emphasized: “She Feeds the World” is a testament to the implementation of PepsiCo’s global Pep Positive strategy in Vietnam. The program has been successful in spreading regenerative agricultural practices, improving the livelihoods of farmers in our agricultural supply chain, and expanding access to and control over production resources for women farmers. The program also promotes PPP in sustainable agriculture in Vietnam through effective cooperation with PSAV and NAEC".
