President Luong Cuong's first activity within the framework of APEC 2025 Summit Week

(laichau.gov.vn) On the evening of October 29 (local time), President of the Republic of Korea Lee Jae Myung held a dinner party to welcome APEC leaders who arrived in the ancient capital of Gyeongju, Korea to attend the 32nd Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit Week. This is the first event in a series of activities of the leaders within the framework of the APEC Summit Week 2025.

The event was attended by President Luong Cuong, US President Donald Trump, Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.

In his opening remarks, the President of the Republic of Korea expressed his pleasure at welcoming APEC leaders to the ancient capital of Gyeongju, affirming that APEC 2025 is an important milestone in efforts to promote regional cooperation for a connected, creative and prosperous Asia- Pacific . President Lee Jae Myung emphasized that the Republic of Korea wishes to work with member economies to enhance dialogue, strengthen trust and act together for peace, stability and sustainable development in the region. The leaders thanked President Lee Jae Myung and the people of the Republic of Korea for their warm welcome and congratulated the important results achieved by APEC 2025.

In a friendly and open atmosphere, APEC leaders discussed opportunities to enhance cooperation in the Asia-Pacific and Indian Ocean regions, affirmed APEC's central role in promoting trade, investment, innovation and inclusive and sustainable growth, and shared their determination to build a region of peace, stability and sustainable development.

Vietnam is ready to promote APEC's achievements.

Speaking at the event, President Luong Cuong emphasized three key goals that countries need to coordinate to promote: peace, prosperity and sustainable development for all economies.

The President affirmed that, with an understanding of the value of peace and national independence, Vietnam is ready to participate in efforts to mediate, reconcile, end conflicts, preserve and build peace, as well as actively contribute to the international community's post-conflict reconstruction efforts.

President Luong Cuong also stated that prosperity for all nations can only be achieved on the basis of sincere cooperation, equality, mutual benefit and mutual respect.

Sharing Vietnam's viewpoint on sustainable development, President Luong Cuong emphasized the long-term vision and comprehensive and balanced approach; affirming that Vietnam is ready to cooperate with partners to implement programs and projects on energy, digital economy, circular economy, knowledge economy, and high-quality human resource training.

The President affirmed that Vietnam, as the host of APEC 2027, will closely coordinate with members to promote APEC's achievements, ensuring that the Asia-Pacific region is a land of opportunity and success. Vietnam looks forward to welcoming all APEC leaders to attend the APEC Summit Week in 2027 on the beautiful island of Phu Quoc.
