Studying aquaculture is not afraid of unemployment.

Similarly, Tai Linh - a student at Khanh Hung High School (Ca Mau) - said he has had a passion for the aquaculture industry since he was a child. His family is also a seafood business, raising fish, so he always cherished the plan to study majors related to processing and aquaculture to further develop his family's pond.

Associate Professor Dr. Huynh Thanh Hung - former acting principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry - explained that by studying aquaculture, you will be equipped with knowledge of aquatic biology, aquaculture techniques, water environment management and methods to improve aquaculture production.

The curriculum includes subjects on aquatic breeds, nutrition, aquatic care and protection, water treatment, disease prevention, as well as aquaculture farm management skills.

According to Associate Professor Dr. Huynh Thanh Hung, job opportunities in the aquaculture industry are very open. You can work at aquaculture farms, aquaculture research and development centers, seafood processing companies, technical experts, breed research and development experts, etc.

"Ca Mau students have more career opportunities to develop family businesses, especially when the demand and quality requirements for seafood products are increasing," said Mr. Hung. "I am sure that Ca Mau students studying seafood will not be afraid of unemployment."

Associate Professor Dr. Huynh Thanh Hung added that in addition to requiring expertise, the aquaculture industry also requires management skills, which is an indispensable factor, especially when you want to develop your own career.

Therefore, during university studies, students will need to accumulate more knowledge and management skills, learn about business operations, especially for those who want to manage family businesses like in Ca Mau.

Student Le Thi Hong Tuoi - grade 11, Tran Van Thoi High School - expressed interest in business majors, especially commercial business and international business.

I want to develop and advance in this field, so I really want to practice English to supplement it. I wonder what English skills are needed in the field of commerce and international business?

Answering this question, Master Cu Xuan Tien - Head of Admissions and Student Affairs, University of Economics and Law (Ho Chi Minh City National University) - explained that the field of commerce and international business requires great English skills if one wants to develop internationally. English is the main language in global communication and commercial activities.

Knowing communication skills helps students to participate in presentations, negotiate contracts or work with international partners. Writing skills help them to write emails, reports, contracts and business documents in English...

"English skills are also very important for advancement, from low-level management positions to senior leadership positions in large enterprises. International business consultants or international project managers also need English skills to work with international partners and customers," said Mr. Tien.

Two messages to students

Meanwhile, speaking at the program, journalist Tran Xuan Toan - deputy editor-in-chief of Tuoi Tre newspaper - sent two messages to students in Ca Mau.

One is that today, with smartphones, you can connect with students from all over the world, no longer limited by geographical distance.

Therefore, students, whether in remote areas in Ca Mau or anywhere else, can take advantage of technology to learn and improve their knowledge.

The second message is about the impact of technology, especially AI and virtual assistants. AI has had a huge impact on jobs, and career choices will also change with the development of AI.

"Careers may change after 4-5 years of graduation, due to rapid changes in technology. Therefore, students need to carefully consider their career choices, and importantly, know how to apply technology to their work," said Mr. Toan.
