National conference to review COVID-19 prevention and control work

On October 29, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh , Head of the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, chaired a national online conference to review the work of COVID-19 prevention and control. Attending at the provincial bridge was comrade Nguyen Long Bien, member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

According to the Ministry of Health , since the first case of the disease was recorded in Ho Chi Minh City on January 23, 2020, the whole country has gone through 2 stages of epidemic prevention and 4 outbreaks, recording over 11.6 million cases and over 43,000 deaths. With the participation of the entire political system, the entire Party, the entire army and the entire people, drastic and timely implementation of anti-epidemic solutions; step by step preventing, repelling and effectively controlling the epidemic. The National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control has agreed to change the classification of COVID-19 from group A infectious diseases to group B infectious diseases. In our province, since the outbreak of COVID-19, 9,061 cases of COVID-19 have been recorded, with 60 deaths. Currently, there are no COVID-19 patients being treated.

Speaking at the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated the Party committees, authorities, sectors, localities, and Steering Committees at all levels for upholding their sense of responsibility before the Party and the People, especially thanking the frontline forces in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, people participating in the fight against the pandemic, philanthropists, sharing the difficulties, hardships, and losses of the people, and expressing condolences to families who have lost loved ones. The Prime Minister analyzed the results achieved as well as lessons learned in the leadership and direction of the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic; at the same time, pointed out the difficulties and limitations. The Prime Minister requested that in the coming time, it is necessary to continue to be vigilant, take early and remote precautions against all types of epidemics that may occur; continue to perfect institutions, mechanisms, and policies, overcome shortcomings and obstacles in the law, and promptly respond to the requirements of disease prevention and control; especially in purchasing medicine, equipment, medical supplies... Prepare necessary conditions; develop preventive medicine and grassroots health systems, improve the capacity of medical staff, and ensure policies for epidemic prevention and control forces.
