- Vietnam Social Security: Timely sharing, support, ensuring social insurance and health insurance benefits for victims of the fire in Thanh Xuan
- What is the health insurance benefit level for students in the 2023-2024 school year?
According to the Vietnam Social Security (VSS), in the 2022-2023 school year, the country will have more than 97% of students participating in health insurance. This result means that more than 18.8 million students are guaranteed and fully enjoy health insurance benefits according to regulations.
In particular, if unfortunately they get sick or have an accident, the health insurance fund will pay for medical treatment with no limit on the scope and level of benefits. In fact, there have been many cases where students have incurable or chronic diseases and have to undergo long-term treatments such as dialysis, cancer treatment, cardiovascular surgery, etc., and the health insurance fund has paid from tens of millions to billions of dong. Thanks to that, it helps reduce the financial burden for their families and they will have more motivation and peace of mind to treat their illnesses so that they can return to school soon.
In 2022, the whole country will have about 3.5 million students covered by health insurance with nearly 7.4 million medical examinations, the amount paid by the health insurance fund is 3,142 billion VND. Similarly, in the first 8 months of 2023, the number of students covered by health insurance is about 2.7 million with 5.2 million medical examinations, the amount paid by the health insurance fund is 2,174 billion VND. The total payment in this period is more than 5,300 billion VND.
In 2022 and the first 8 months of 2023, many cases of students going to medical examination and treatment had large treatment costs covered by the Health Insurance Fund, specifically as follows:
Cost from 100-200 million: 1,435 students/15,620 medical examinations, health insurance fund cost is 194.4 billion VND.
Cost from 200-500 million VND: 568 students/6,489 medical examinations, the cost paid by the health insurance fund is 165.5 billion VND. Cost from over 500 million VND: 66 students/817 medical examinations, the cost paid by the health insurance fund is 43 billion VND.
Some cases of students having large treatment costs covered by the Health Insurance Fund (in 2022 and the first 8 months of 2023):
The patient who received the highest payment from the Health Insurance Fund is 1.07 billion VND (in 2022): Card code HS4797937XXXXXX, born in 2006, address 18A Do Doc Long, Tan Quy ward, Tan Phu district, HCMC; main diagnosis is "Orbital disease, acute myocarditis, sequelae of intracranial injury".
Another case, also paid 1.04 billion VND by the Health Insurance Fund (of which 0.66 billion VND was paid in 2022, 0.38 billion VND was paid in the first 8 months of 2023): Card code HS4013520XXXXXX, born in 2014, address 12 Hoang Hoa Tham, Ba Dinh district, Hanoi ; main diagnosis is "Fibrotic liver, cholangitis, biliary atresia..."...
It can be affirmed that health insurance is a social security policy with practical and important significance, contributing effectively to medical examination and treatment, health care for students in particular and people in general.
Participating in health insurance for students is not only to care for and protect the health of the young generation, but also to demonstrate their responsibility to comply with the law and the spirit of mutual love to share risks with those who unfortunately have health problems.
