According to the Ministry, there are currently 195 highereducation institutions and 11 pedagogical colleges that have been assessed and recognized as meeting educational quality standards according to domestic standards.

In addition, 11 higher education institutions were assessed and recognized as meeting international educational quality standards, including: University of Science (VNU-HCM), University of Science (University of Danang), Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, University of Natural Sciences (VNU-Hanoi), Ton Duc Thang University, International University (VNU-HCM), Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics , British University Vietnam (BUV), Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Van Lang University.

For training programs, there are currently 1,893 training programs that have completed self-assessment reports; 1,595 training programs have been externally assessed.

A total of 1,425 programs were evaluated and recognized to meet domestic educational quality standards; 574 programs were evaluated and recognized to meet foreign educational quality standards.

The Ministry of Education and Training noted that before the certificate of educational quality assessment expires, educational institutions need to proactively develop and implement a self-assessment plan, select an educational quality assessment organization according to regulations to continue to be assessed and recognized as meeting educational quality standards in the next cycle; ensuring that the regulation on the educational quality assessment cycle of educational institutions and training programs is 5 years.

The Ministry is currently seeking comments on the draft Circular regulating the quality assessment of training programs at all levels of higher education to replace Circular No. 04/2016/TT-BGDDT and related Circulars.
