More than 40 people were taken to the emergency room due to food poisoning after eating bread in Hanh Thong ward, Ho Chi Minh City.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety said it is verifying and clarifying information related to the incident in which many patients suffered food poisoning after eating bread in Hanh Thong ward.

Speaking with Tuoi Tre Online , on the afternoon of November 7, a representative of Military Hospital 175 ( Ministry of National Defense ) said that from the afternoon to the night of November 6, the hospital had received about 40 patients with symptoms of food poisoning.

Most of the patients had symptoms of abdominal pain and vomiting. Of these, 3 patients with severe symptoms were hospitalized for observation, while the remaining patients had milder symptoms and were treated as outpatients.

This representative added that among the three seriously ill patients, there is still one patient whose health is not stable, with fever, chills, and abdominal pain, who is being actively treated by doctors.

Most of the patients hospitalized with these symptoms said they developed symptoms after eating bread at a bakery on Nguyen Thai Son Street on November 6.

Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online the same day, a representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety said the unit had received the information and was verifying it.

Initial information said that the suspected poisoning patients all ate bread at Ms. B's bread shop (Nguyen Thai Son street, Hanh Thong ward).

A nearby private hospital also said it had received many patients suspected of food poisoning in the emergency department. The number of cases is still increasing and the unit is preparing a preliminary report to send to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health .

According to Tuoi Tre Online 's records at noon on November 7, Ms. B's banh mi toad shop located right on Nguyen Thai Son Street (Hanh Thong Ward, Ho Chi Minh City) was in a state of being closed.

According to many people in the area, the store usually opens from 5-6am but today it was closed from morning to noon. This is a long-standing branded bakery, bought and used by many people.

At noon on November 7, a representative of Hanh Thong ward said that they had not yet grasped the information of the incident, and that the ward would proceed to verify and clarify.
