The Hanoi Women's Union has just held a conference to review the Project to support women in the capital to start businesses in the period 2018-2025.
According to Vice President of the Hanoi Women's Union Pham Thi My Hoa, the Project "Supporting Women to Start a Business in the 2018-2025 period" has been creatively and effectively implemented by the Union at all levels with the aim of supporting, enhancing and promoting the potential and creativity of women in realizing the goals of starting a business and developing the economy of Hanoi.
Of which, 858,225/953,584 women members participated in propaganda activities to raise awareness about startups and economic development; 60,450 female business owners, female cooperative managers, female owners of production establishments and business households were enhanced with startup capacity and connected to support the realization of startup ideas.
The Association at all levels has secured loans from banks and credit institutions to support 158,020 women to borrow more than VND 10,000 billion to invest in economic development and start-ups, of which 3,780 women who have just started their businesses borrowed VND 467 billion; 122 start-up ideas were connected; investors supported start-up equipment worth VND 920 million; 14,376 female entrepreneurs were supported to promote trade through product promotion programs.
32 collectives and 29 individuals were honored to receive Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of the City People's Committee and the Hanoi Women's Union for their achievements in implementing the Project to Support Women in the Capital to Start a Business in the 2018-2025 period.
In addition, a network of 60 Women Entrepreneurs Clubs, 22 Women Entrepreneurs Groups under the Women's Union of the city, districts, towns and establishments were established with 3,680 women entrepreneurs participating. In 7 years, 5,250 women have started businesses, completed 209% of the city's Project target.
The women's startup movement has contributed to increasing the rate of women business owners in Hanoi from 21.6% in 2017 to 29.5% in 2024 and positively contributing to the socio-economic development of the capital.
“The results of the Project “Supporting women in the capital to start a business in the period 2018-2025” have affirmed the role of the Women's Union in caring for the lives and empowering women in the capital in the economic field, contributing to ensuring the goal of gender equality", the Vice President of the Hanoi Women's Union affirmed.
