In 2024, Vietnam - Indonesia trade relations recorded many positive highlights with bilateral import-export turnover continuing to grow strongly.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade , bilateral trade turnover between the two countries reached an all-time high, with Vietnam's export growth to Indonesia at double digits and close to reaching the bilateral turnover target of 18 billion USD by 2028.
Notably, trade growth in the direction of exports being higher than imports has gradually contributed to narrowing the trade deficit between the two countries. Especially in the period of 2021-2024, the narrowing of the trade deficit is clearly demonstrated thanks to higher export growth than import growth, especially in 2023 and 2024.
