Wolves lost 0-3 at Fulham last night (November 1), in round 10 of the 2025-26 Premier League. After this defeat, the "Wolves" board decided to fire coach Pereira. Wolves are at the bottom of the table, having only won two points after 10 rounds, the team's worst start in the Premier League era.

In the match against Fulham, coach Pereira made 9 personnel changes from the team that was eliminated from the English League Cup by Chelsea in midweek. However, these adjustments did not bring about results. Wolves had to play with one less man from the 36th minute when midfielder Emmanuel Agbadou received a red card, at the time the team was 0-1 down after Harry Wilson's goal. In the second half, Ryan Sessegnon doubled the gap before Yerson Mosquera's own goal closed out the 0-3 defeat for the visitors.
Pereira took over from Gary O'Neil in December 2024, when the team was second to last in the 2024-25 Premier League table with just six points after 19 games. Under the Portuguese tactician, Wolves performed well and won 10 of the remaining 22 games of the season, successfully staying in the league with a 16th-place finish.
However, since their six-game winning streak in April, the Wolves’ form has plummeted. They have failed to win any of their last 14 Premier League games, including 11 defeats, including a 3-0 loss to Fulham last weekend and a stoppage-time defeat to Burnley a week earlier.
After the defeat to Burnley, Pereira was seen arguing with Wolves fans, who chanted “You’re sacked tomorrow morning” throughout the game. Similar scenes continued when Wolves travelled to Craven Cottage to face Fulham.

Speaking after the loss to Burnley, Coach Pereira expressed his disappointment but remained calm: “Two months ago, they were singing my name because of what we did last season, we were playing in the Premier League, not the Championship. But I understand, when the results are not as expected, that is football. Now they are singing my name, perhaps to demand my dismissal. However, at the end of the match, if I were a fan, I would still be proud of the players because they fought with all their might.”
Notably, just over a month ago, manager Pereira was given a contract extension by Wolves after a successful 2024-25 season, when he helped the team to a spectacular relegation. However, since the departure of key striker Matheus Cunha in the summer transfer window, Wolves have all but lost their attacking identity, with their rare victories coming in cup competitions.
After round 10, Wolves are 8 points behind the safety zone, they are the only team without a win this season. Two draws against Tottenham and Brighton are all the team has won in the Premier League this season, both matches ended in regret when Wolves conceded in the final minutes.
Pereira becomes the fourth coach to be fired in the Premier League this season. Previously, Nottingham sacked coaches Nuno Espirito Santo and Ange Postecoglou, West Ham sacked Graham Potter. Thus, all three teams in the "red light" group of the Premier League this season have fired coaches, with Nottingham FC firing two people.
