Coffee prices are being supported by a sharp decline in ICE benchmark inventories, while heavy rains in Brazil over the weekend have improved the outlook for the upcoming crop in the world’s largest coffee producer.
In the US, roasters are using up inventory at a rapid pace, increasing pressure to negotiate the removal of a 50% tariff on coffee imported from Brazil. Discussions have begun but no official announcement has been made.
Typhoon Kalmaegi is moving towards the central Philippines and could affect coffee growing areas, then into the South China Sea and towards Vietnam. The storm is forecast to have winds of around 169 km/h.
Although the Central Highlands is not directly affected, northern areas such as Quang Tri may experience heavy rains, causing flooding. Coffee growers need to monitor weather developments to proactively respond.
Update world coffee prices
On the London Stock Exchange, the online price of Robusta coffee futures for January 2026 delivery closed on November 3 at $4,731 per ton, up 0.81% ($38 per ton) from yesterday. The March 2026 futures contract increased 0.67% ($31 per ton) to $4,646 per ton.

Similarly, the price of Arabica coffee for delivery in December 2025 on the New York Stock Exchange increased by 0.22% (0.9 US cents/pound) yesterday to 407.55 US cents/pound. The contract for delivery in March 2026 increased by 0.19% (0.75 US cents/pound) to 387.45 US cents/pound.

The Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association (Vicofa) said that during a recent working trip with the Specialty Coffee Association of America, importers in the US expressed great interest in Vietnamese specialty coffee. In particular, Vietnam's Robusta coffee is attracting much attention from roasters in this market.
In the past two years, the US market has begun to shift towards specialty Robusta coffee, in addition to the popular Arabica. American consumers are looking for new, stronger and more unique flavors, opening up a great opportunity for Vietnamese Robusta coffee to increase its presence in the world's leading coffee consuming country.
However, although Vietnam is the leading producer and exporter of Robusta coffee, the output of specialty Robusta coffee is still very modest. This makes the supply unable to fully meet the demand from high-end markets such as the US.
This is a potential gap that the Vietnamese coffee industry needs to focus on. If we focus on investing in quality and appropriate processing, specialty Robusta coffee can absolutely become a new export advantage for Vietnam in the coming years.
