Hue issues urgent dispatch to respond to heavy rain, floods and landslides

Faced with the situation of prolonged heavy rains and rapidly rising rivers causing flooding in some localities, on November 17, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Hue City issued an urgent dispatch on proactively responding to heavy rains, floods, inundation and landslides.

The Chairman of the Hue City People's Committee requested departments, branches, sectors and localities to proactively organize close monitoring of forecasts, warnings and developments of rain, floods, landslides and strong winds at sea; promptly direct and deploy response measures according to the "four on-the-spot" motto, within the scope of assigned tasks and authority, not to be passive and surprised, to minimize damage to people and property of the people and the State; organize inspection, review and withdraw all forces and vehicles from areas at risk of flash floods and landslides to ensure absolute safety for people and vehicles.

People's Committees of communes and wards urgently mobilize forces to evacuate people in riverside, estuary, lagoon and coastal areas at risk of being affected by rising water, high tides, strong winds, big waves and areas at risk of flooding, flash floods, landslides, etc.; strengthen propaganda and instruct people to proactively stock up on food, drinking water, essential items and spare batteries; prepare evacuation plans to ensure family safety; absolutely do not allow personal vehicles to travel on rivers, lakes, canals, etc.

The City Military Command and the City Police directed local forces to deploy response plans, proactively organize and deploy forces and vehicles to be ready to support localities in responding to storms, floods, evacuating people, and rescuing victims.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment directs and urges localities to deploy work to ensure safety of reservoirs and irrigation dams; operate inter-reservoirs in the Huong River basin according to regulations.

The Department of Construction is mobilizing all available forces, vehicles, and materials to promptly fix and repair landslides and damage, ensuring smooth and safe traffic as soon as possible, especially on main traffic routes and arterial roads.

From November 16 to November 17, there was heavy rain, some places had very heavy rain over a wide area in Hue city. Total rainfall at Vrain stations (automatic rain gauges) in the plains was commonly 100-200 mm, in the mountainous areas 400-600 mm.

As of 11:00 a.m. on November 17, the water level on the Huong River at Kim Long station reached 2.85 m, 0.85 m below alert level 2; the Bo River at Phu Oc station reached 4.88 m, 0.38 m above alert level 3...
