Hue continues to conduct research on cannon shooting at Ky Dai after a firecracker incident 'stumbled' on tourists

After the incident of a cannon falling into a tourist area, Hue City will continue to study the organization of cannon firing at Hue Flag Tower every Saturday evening.

On May 9, the leader of the Department of Culture and Sports of Hue City said that the Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Van Phuong had just reached a conclusion after a working session with relevant parties regarding the incident of a cannon falling "into the wrong place" in the tourist area on the evening of May 3.

The meeting was attended by relevant units including the Department of Culture and Sports, Department of Finance, Hue Monuments Conservation Center, police, army and Viet Giang Company (a unit involved in organizing the fireworks display at Hue Flag Tower).

At the meeting, Mr. Phuong acknowledged the receptive spirit and determination of the Hue Monuments Conservation Center in organizing the art program to perform cannon shooting effects every Saturday to serve the people and tourists.

However, after the above incident, the center needs to seriously learn from experience and coordinate with the police, army and related units to organize future events.

The city agreed to assign the center to organize sound and light effects performances at the flagpole area every Saturday night, including studying the continuation of organizing cannon shooting in the spirit of ensuring compliance with regulations on security, safety, and fire prevention.

The center must specifically announce the time and location in the near future to serve the people and tourists.

Mr. Phuong also assigned the Hue Monuments Conservation Center to coordinate with relevant units to research the legal basis to explain and report to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism about the above incident. This must be completed and reported to the city before May 10.

The Department of Culture and Sports is assigned to support and guide the center in carrying out procedures related to art programs and events (if necessary) and in promoting and advertising events according to regulations.

The Department of Finance is assigned to preside over, research, and appraise funding arrangements for programs taking place in the Hue Flag Tower area.

Temporarily postpone the cannon firing at Hue Flag Tower

Also on the morning of May 9, the Hue Monuments Conservation Center announced the temporary suspension of the cannon firing simulation at the Hue Flag Tower every Saturday evening.

According to the announcement, the center is preparing to rebuild the content script, re-study technical equipment and other factors to ensure the best conditions for organizing the simulated fireworks display at the flagpole.

Once preparations are completed, the center will notify residents and visitors of the specific reopening date.
